Dec 29, 2014

Dear family and friends,

I am getting transferred! I am leaving Hamilton to go to Kitchener with my son Elder Kendell! I am pretty excited to go there! They just baptized a couple weeks ago. It is a good area.

This week we did a lot of Christmas stuff, we went carolling and visiting members a lot. They gave us so much food!! Too bad I am leaving the area... So many snacks and drinks.

I skyped my family! It was awesome.

I don't know much else about the area. Let me know if you have friends there.

I have limited time to write today cause we just has a long and nice all you can eat sushi lunch. It was super delicious.

Dec 22, 2014

Dear family and friends,

Merry Christmas! This week was pretty good!

As the holidays approach, people have been returning home. So we don't really have a lot of investigators that we are teaching right now. We are working a lot with the members and they have been giving us quite a bit of referrals so that is pretty awesome.

I'll keep you all informed!

Keep Christ in Christmas!

Dec 15, 2014

Dear family and friends,

This week has been an improving week. I am feeling much better from an allergic reaction last week.

This week we confirmed Grace. I had the opportunity to speak the blessing for the first time!(not counting the ones in the temple) Because the blessing was for her, I gave the blessing in Mandarin. I felt the Holy Spirit so strong while giving the blessing.

The Niagara YSA branch welcomes another Chinese member! It's awesome. The branch is incredibly fun and I enjoy serving here every single day.

The exam season's ending soon. We will be really busy soon... Hopefully we'll see fruits soon.

Dec 8, 2014

Dear family and friends,

This week was awesome! We didn't hit Standards but that's partly because Grace was baptized! The baptism was great. We were so busy teaching lessons. We are having fun.

It has been a spiritual week. We had Christmas dinner at the branch and we did a nativity. I was a wise-men. We thought that it would be just alright. At the end the branch president invited all of us the "bring the good news" so dressed in costume we went out from the stage to the tables and bore our testimony. It wasn't too hard for the missionaries to do it. When the member actors (Mary and Joseph) finally stood up bore their testimony about the divinity of the Savior, it was very strong and I was so grateful that the Spirit was there. Souls were touched and hearts were changed.

I am grateful for the priesthood. We gave several blessings this week. To missionaries and investigators. The power is real.

The work is going good!

Grace got baptized! The elders found her on the street. She is from HangZhou and she is so prepared to receive the gospel. The baptism went really well.

Dec 1, 2014

Dear family and friends,

This week was good! We achieved Standards! The best part was that we brought 4 investigators to church which is awesome. Grace is one of them and she is planning to be baptized this weekend! I am excited for her. We also found someone named Fiona last week and she has been reading and praying  since we invited her to do so.

It feels like I have been in Hamilton for a long time now even though it has been 2 weeks only. The mission recently had a huge shift in focus and now we are going to work with less-active members a lot more than before.  I am pumped for this change because we have lots of recent converts in the branch and I have always wanted to strengthen the unit more instead of just bringing people in.

We go to the sacrament meeting for the Hamilton ward then we drive to the Niagara YSA branch for the whole 3 hours. It's a long day but it is fun and worth it. YSA members are so good at befriending our investigators!

Life is good!

Nov 24, 2014 Hamilton!

Dear family and friends,

This week was a good first week at Hamilton. I didn't take any pictures yet I'll make it up next week.

The first day I arrived was really cold! I was worried but eventually it got a little warmer and maybe I adjusted to it a little as well. All the snow has melted.

I am a "Relief Society President"! Not really... There are only sisters in the district besides our companionship. That means I don't have to go on exchanges with anyone but the zone leader. I can actually focus a ton in the work in my area now.

The people here are really cool. The YSA branch is one of the best unit that I have been assigned to. They are all very supportive of missionary work. They are almost professional fellowshippers.

My companions are awesome and 5 elders live in the house. It is a bit crazy there.

How are you? Tell me about it!

Nov 17, 2014 Baptism of Topaz Dao! End of transfer!

Dear family and friends,

How are you all doing?

Topaz is baptized! Topaz was found in July by Elder Lee and Elder Howell while contacting on the street with a member. First she was interested in learning English from us. The gospel quickly touched her heart and she started to experience the mighty change of heart. After a long while it came to pass that she is prepared to be baptized. But she could not! Her husband in China would not agree. The missionaries exchanged opinions with the husband to no effect. Days later she bore her testimony to him and he finally agreed. Thus the conversion of Topaz, the defender and testifier of our faith.

The service went well and tons of people came to church. The baptism was spiritual as the ones before.

I am getting transfered to Hamilton! I am going to serve with Elder Howell again. But this time also with Elder Earley, another missionary. Three companions are always fun. I am very excited to see what that will be like.

Nov 10, 2014

Dear family and friends,

How are you all?

This week went well, the main news was that Gary got confirmed! It was a spiritual experience for all of us. I love the feeling of giving blessings.

One of our investigators, Topaz, has only one problem before she can be baptized. She wants to be baptized and she is ready for it, except that her husband wouldn't let her...yet! On Thursday we had a Q&A conference call with him. It didn't go to far... but this morning Topaz informed us that her husband will reconsider and give us an answer by this Thursday. We are praying and his heart will be softened and that he will respect the beliefs of his wife.

That is exciting because I really hope that I could attend her baptism while I am still here... This will be the last week of the transfer. We will see...

Nov 3, 2014 Baptism! Gary! Windsor Chinese!‏

Dear family and friends,

This week we baptized! Gary was found by Elder Sherman and Elder Kendell right outside of the university KFC. He was first taught on October 3rd. 30 days later, He was finally baptized yesterday. He is from JiangXi, China. We were so excited to see him make his promise with God.

I have again seen the changing power of the atonement of Jesus the Christ. I know that He lives and that He was empowered Gary. I know that He has inspired all of us during the teaching process. Our next goal is to help him go to the temple. We are blessed to have a temple nearby in Detroit.

The baptismal service was great yesterday. We have 7 investigators come. It was wonderful and I know that seeing someone baptized helped them realized their potential to be baptized and follow God as well.

The work is going well. I can say that I am very used to the style of life now. At the same time I still need to strive to improve. The time is far spent!

Dear family and friends,

This week was pretty normal. We didn't have the baptism this week but Gary should be baptized this weekend. We are excited.

Gary is from China. He is a master student at University of Windsor. His family is Buddhist. However he has changed quickly just in a month.

I have to go. Sorry for the short letter. I'll make sure I send you pictures next week.

Oct 13, 2014 Another Week!

Dear family and friends,

How is everything?

This week went well. Nothing too crazy. Our investigators all had tests this week but we still managed to teaching quite a bit and help people come to church.

Next week we might have a baptism! We are working hard to prepare Kelvin for this covenant.

I can't really think of anything more to write. Life can't always be exciting or else I'll be too tired.

Oct 6, 2014 Staying in Windsor!

Dear family and friends,

This week has been the best week of my mission! We brought a lot a investigators to church and tons of them have a goal to be baptized this month. I know that most of the success comes from boldly inviting people to attend church and be baptized, and careful planning.

I am just very glad that both of my companions are staying here with me. We are excited to baptize lots this month.

General conference was awesome. I was so excited during the Saturday Morning session when they announced that Elder Wong will be giving a talk. He is the first person in the history of all general conferences to give a talk in non-English native language. He gave a powerful witness of the importance of teamwork and of Jesus Christ as our Savior.

Spet 30, 2014

Dear family and friends,

This week went well! Standards again. We almost got a baptism. We are hoping that it will happen this week.

This week we had an activity called "A Day of the Life of a Missionary", basically members followed us around and took pictures of us.

Since pictures are stronger than words, I'm going to just let you see the pictures.

Spet 22, 2014 Awesome week!

Dear family and friends,

This week was great! The reason I sent this so late was because we went to Point Pelee. It is the southern most part of Canada that sticks into Lake Erie. It is amazing to see the big currents on one side of the point and calm waters on the other side.

Anyway, this week we had Sharon and her boyfriend, Billy, at church. I am glad that we could introduce him to the gospel. He is a little hesitant but I believe that eventually he'll yield the the Spirit.

Rachel was another one of our friends that came. She loved it. We found her through our other investigator. Referrals are just awesome.

This week we had a general authority visit us. Elder Craig A Cardon. He gave some amazing instructions and really helped us feel the spirit of missionary work. I am glad that I have at many chances to see seventies, president of the seventies and even members of the twelve to come.

I am very excited for the coming couple weeks.

Sept 15, 2014 Good Week!

Dear family and friends,

This week was good! We picked up our missionary. So now it's Elder Lee, Elder Sherman and Elder Kendell!

This week was really short for us because of all the driving that we have done. We confirmed Daisy this week! It went well and she bore her powerful testimony right after.

We are enjoying the missionary work now. Bring you  more news later!

Sep 8, 2014 Baptism!

Dear family and friends,

This week was awesome!

Our investigator Daisy Liu got baptized. The story began last year when the missionaries knocked and her mom answered. Her English wasn't good enough to understand so she asked her son Edison to answer. He got baptized on Sept 7th of last year. At the time, Daisy was not interested in the gospel and occasionally sit in the lessons. The missionaries discontinued teaching her and we finally picked her up again about 6 weeks ago. Her desire changed. She has developed great love for the Book of Mormon and her heart has changed. There were so many challenges that we overcame together. She was finally baptized yesterday, exactly a year after the baptism of Edison.

It was just a really spiritual day at church yesterday especially because it was fast and testimony meeting. President and Sister Clayton came (an 8 hour drive round trip) to see the baptism. Everything went well and we are just so touched for the love that Heavenly Father has shown for her.

So that was the week. We expect a little drop in exciting news for a moment and we will work harder for the rest of the transfer. One of the reasons being WE ARE TRAINING!!!! We will receive a new Mandarin speaking Caucasian elder later today. So we are going to help him to have a good 0.67th transfer.

Sep 3, 2014 Good week! Excited for the next.‏

Dear family and friends,

This week was awesome. My new companion Elder Sherman is a very good missionary and I have learned lots from him. We are performing well and loving Windsor.

Our investigators are doing well in their spiritual progression. Daisy is getting baptized next week! We are so excited for her. Seems like Heavenly Father has helped us along the way to solve every problem that she had.

We watched a movie last night with Daisy and 6 of our other investigators. At the end of the movie, Daisy bore her testimony and it was very spiritual for everyone that was there. They promised to go to her baptismal service and they are going to feel the Spirit even more there I am sure.

Everything is going well. Our only concern is that we will loose one of our best investigators soon...
because she'll become a member!

Dear family and friends,

I am staying in Windsor! My companion Elder Howell is leaving. It is kinda sad but I am excited for the change. My new companion will be Elder Sherman. We've served around each other before.

This week we did really well and we achieved standards again. Our investigators are making big steps towards baptism. We are excited for the coming of the two baptisms.

This week is transfers so we don't have much time to write. I'll bring you more news next week.

Aug 19, 2014 Standards!

Dear family and friends,

How is everyone?

This week was awesome for us! We achieved the Standards of Excellence! Something that I have not achieved for a while and never has happened in Windsor Chinese! We are super excited.

Daisy is our "prime" investigator. I'm not sure if I have told you about her but she is the sister of a recent convert. She is very willing to accept baptism and we have became good friends this transfer.

The other investigator is Topaz. She is a student from Beijing and we taught her English and the gospel. She came to church yesterday and liked it. We hope that as school finishes she will have more time to read and pray and meet with us.

So we are having enjoying the work and are having fun.

Aug 12, 2014 Good Week!

Dear family and friends,

This week went well! We have been teaching a lot. One of the exciting thing is that we got a GPS! We have always thought that Windsor was a place with not a lot of Chinese people. However, once we put in the names and addresses of the Chinese people here we found out that we have been surrounded by them. We are working a lot more effectively now.

We have been teaching Topaz. She is from Beijing and she is preparing to take IELTS this coming week. We are teaching her the missionary lessons as well as helping her learn English. I feel like Ammon in the scriptures: converting by service. We have became friends through the service that we gave.

We have 2 people getting ready to get baptised on the 7th of September. Let's pray that they will be prepared for the big day.

August 5, 2014 Good Week!

Dear family and friends,

This week was really good! We are teaching an investigator, Daisy, and she is awesome! She is an older sister of a member here and she is progressing well towards baptism. Hopefully, she will be baptized in less than two weeks.
So we are finding quite a bit of new solid people lately and we are excited to work with them.

Nothing too exciting besides that. I will try to keep you updated on everything.

July 29, 2014 Week 2 in Windsor‏

Dear family and friends,

The second week here was great! The area is still going through a big change right now. A lot of the people that we have been in contact with are returning to China for the Summer, including our recent convert, Sharon. So it will be a little bit harder to keep up the business.

This week something really cool happened. We decided to "clean up" the ward list by visiting all of the less active members that were Chinese. We visited a lot of places and most of the Chinese students that has been baptised left the address already. We were pretty disappointed but we kept trying.  At the end of the day there was a name on the list: Simon. All we got about him is that he works in a store along a street. We tried a couple ones and they were all owned by non-Chinese. We were about to give up as we drove past a store. We were about to give up but suddenly a Chinese person walked out. We talked to him and confirmed that it was him. He has been lost for many years now. We talked and expressed our care for him.

It was Heavenly Father's will right then that he will walk out of his store as we were almost going to give up. How amazing!

Anyway, that was the week. Until next time!

Dear family and friends,

My first week in Windsor was great! Elder Howell and I get along well and we working working hard to improve the area! Usually you only find Chinese around the university. This week we found a couple new people to teach which is exciting. A lot of the students here go home for the summer. So we will see if we can find and teach those who are staying in Windsor.

Windsor is a pretty small city with not a whole lot of Chinese people. The people here live slower lives. It feels kind of like going on a vacation.

Our members are awesome here. I've already been fed three times and later again tonight. This is going to be a memorable time.

July 14, 2014 Transfer! Windsor!‏

Dear family and friends,

How is everyone doing?

The day has come that I am finally leaving the Greater Toronto Area. I have been assigned to labor in Windsor, Ontario, Chinese speaking. It will be my 3rd area in the field. I am super excited and I am a bit sad at the same time that I have to leave the people that I have met here and love.

Aaron is getting baptized in less than two weeks and I am so happy for him even though I won't get a chance to see it actually happen. The fruits of the labor is so sweet!

Anyway, I'll tell you a little bit about the new area that I'll be going to. This area is pretty new, It has only been around for 3-4 transfers. Windsor is just across the Detroit river from Detroit. It is about a 4 hour drive from Toronto. I will work with both Cantonese and Mandarin speakers. My new companion, Elder Howell, will be sowing and reaping in Mandarin.

Summer and fall is especially great for missionary work. I am so grateful that Heavenly Father gave me this chance to serve him.

Dear family and friends,

The week was good! we taught a lot of lessons again even though we slowed down comparing with last week.

We met the new president! President and Sister Clayton are from California and they are amazing leaders and teachers. I miss President Scott but I am excited to serve with President Clayton for more than a year.

Time flies and next transfer I will have only 1 year left. I thank the support from you and our Heavenly Father. I have truly learned a lot and I am looking forward to the 2nd year. Time to rise and shine and work even harder!

June 30, 2014 Awesome week

Dear family and friends!

This week was an amazing week! We taught a lot of lessons and we are having a lot of success with setting baptismal goals for our investigators. We are expecting 4 of them to be baptized in the next 6 weeks.

The work is definitely going well right now. One of our investigator, Aaron, that we found at the bus terminal is planning to be baptized in July. In fact, he wants to be baptized right now but we decided it is best for him to come to church a couple times first. God does help us find prepared people to teach and send the Spirit to help us teach along the way.

Dear family and freinds,
This week was pretty good. We again taught a lot of lessons and work is starting to take off. We found a twenty year old guy on Saturday. His name is Aaron and he agreed to meet us on Sunday. We taught a wonderful first lesson and he committed to be baptized next month.
So that is exciting. We are also working with a lot of our ESL students. They have a surprisingly strong desire to learn the Gospel and come to church.
I am doing the work and I am enjoying it.

Dear family and friends,

This week was good! We found quite a bit of new investigators and are currently working on helping them to learn about baptism and to set baptismal dates with them. Most of these students were found through the ESL class that missionaries host.

Other than that there aren't anything special that happened this week. Still working hard and I am excited to work harder this summer.

June 9, 2014

Dear family and friends,

This week was an amazing week. On Wednesday, Elder Moore and I decided to go visit a member in the ward. He has been less-active for a a couple years and he used to go to the mandarin ward so no one in this ward know about him. We went to his door and talked with him for a little bit by his door and that was it for that day. We thought that there was nothing much we can do. On Thursday night, we were waiting at the bus stop. There was a lady walking towards me and getting in line for the same bus as we do. We began to talk with her and soon she recognized the name of the church. Then she said that her husband used to go to our church and that we probably wouldn't know him. We told her that we did! and that we have visited him the night before. We then taught her the first lesson on the bus and now we are planning to teach her.

I am grateful that the Holy Ghost told us to visit the husband the night before. If not, we wouldn't have this special experience. Now we have a chance to help her be baptized and hopefully help them get married in the temple one day.

So that was amazing and the Spirit was very strong even when we taught on a noisy bus.

How are you doing? Write me!

June 3, 2014 Staying! 6-th transfer in Cantonese begins‏

Dear family and friends,
This week was good! We had stake conference and  we invited some investigators to go. Most of the conference was a broadcast from Salt Lake City with Elder Holland and President Eyring. It was good to listen to them.
So we are not going to move this transfer! This means that this will be my 6-th tranfer here in Cantones West. I am kinda glad to be able to stay and to continue to work with the people in this area.
So this week we got in a car accident, my companion was driving and he hit the car infront of us. So for about a week, I think, we won't get to ride the car. That is OK! beause we will get the chance to talk to more people on buses and on streets.
Any news from you? I'd like to here from you all.

May 26, 2014

Dear family and friends,
This week was pretty good. We visited a lot of members. So the mission has a goal of baptizing 60 people in June this year. So we in the Cantonese West area are planning to participate in this goal. Jennifer and Peter are the people that we have been working with and we are praying and working to achieve this goal.
This week we taught Jennifer at her home. We planned out the lesson before and in the lesson the Spirit was really strong. It was an exciting experience and I continued to feel the Spirit all night. We helped her feel the Holy Ghost and she realized that even though she didn't know the gospel in her earlier years. I know that God helps anyone who sincerely prays and takes care of His children.
I know that God lives! We can feel the Holy Ghost if we desire to feel Him and do His will.
See you next week!

So we are just continuing to work. I'll bring you good news.

Spiritual experience with mission president

Dear family and friends,
Yesterday was mother's day and we got to talk with our family on Skype. It was a good time and I got to see everyone in my family.
This past week was special because both Cantonese West and East areas did well and we achieved Standards together. It is amazing to see the progress that we have made as a whole. When I came into the area 6 moths ago, none of the areas of even close to that level of effectiveness and Heavenly Father has surely blessed us with our performance in bringing multiple souls unto Christ.
On Tuesday I got to talk with the mission president. It was a spiritual experience bearing my testimony to him. I am kind of sad at the same time because we only have a chance to see him once or twice before he leaves the mission in July.
Our investigators are doing alright. We are continuing to teach and are making real progress so we are happy.

Hong Kong Investigator

Dear Family and Friends,
This week was pretty good. We were able to find some families to teach so that is very exciting. I will get to see you in just a couple days over Skype so I am going to keep this letter short today.
Peter is one of our investigator and his baptism is coming up. He is from Hong Kong and he is very willing to learn the gospel. Simon, our recent convert, has became friends with Peter through and his influence is big on Peter's decision to be baptized. Simon testified of the Gospel and the cleansing power of baptism and because of that Peter is more willing to experiment on the words.
So yeah everything is going well! Hopefully I can bring you some good news next week!

Normal week

Dear family and friends,
This week has been pretty normal. We are continuing our efforts to help the ward progress. Simon received the Aaronic Priesthood and that was exciting. Besides that, the week wasn't too exciting. Just keeping the work go along.
We are looking like we are going to have a strong transfer. The focus of this transfer that Elder Moore and I came up with is to help strengthen the families in the ward. Especially the less-active ones so that they will return to church again.
So I will keep you updated with anything exciting!

New Transfer! Staying in Cantonese West‏

Dear family and friends,
This week has been another exciting week after Simon's baptism last Sunday. He was confirmed this week at sacrament meeting. We had some investigators come and watch that blessing begin and I think that it helps remind them the goal of learning the gospel.
We have 4 baptismal dates planned out for the coming transfer. They each have their challenges but we are confident that some of them will be baptized this transfer. I am grateful for this chance to labor with love for our Lord!
I have come to love this area and I am grateful to serve here for 6 more weeks!

Baptism

Dear family and friends,
This week we baptized Simon! He is from Guangzhou and we found him in front of Seneca College in December. We taught him but almost immediately, he had to go back to China for the new year and won't come back till February. So we waited for 2 months and contacted him again. Fortunately, he was still as excited to learn about the gospel as he was before. after about two more months, he was finally baptized yesterday.
I am very happy that I had the privilege to be the one who found him and taught him and all the way to his baptism. I hope that this friendship will last long as we both go on our paths of discipleship.
So that is the highlight of the week. We continued strong to achieve the Standards of Excellence this week even though we had to plan for the baptism. We are grateful that Heavenly Father has helped us along the way.
In two weeks we are planning to have another baptism. I will keep you updated.

Love,
Elder Lee

General Confernece

Dear family and friends,
This week was awesome because we got to watch General Conference. I was surprised that a member from Hong Kong was called to be in the first quorum of the seventies. Do any of you know about him?
Anyway, I enjoyed conference very much and has felt the Spirit from pondering the words of our prophets and leaders. We were glad that our investigators too could come and watch the conference with us.
Simon is finally getting baptized this weekend and we are very happy for him. He just needs to stay away from coffee and tea this week to be worthily baptized. I am so grateful that I could find him and help him along this path since December. I will send you pictures next week.

Very blessed

Dear family and friends,
It has been a great week. We have been blessed with so many things and it is impossible to name them all. One of the goals that we had this week was that we would have members come teach and testify with us.

We had some appointments set up ad a member, Tony, agreed to come. just before the lessons, Tony text-ed us saying that his car had some problems with it so that he couldn't come . We were a disappointed because The lessons are not going to go as well without having members testify with us. Our goals and plans were disrupted. We were traveling to our appointment on a crowded bus, usually, that is a good chance to talk with people and get their phone numbers and teach them. However, temptation came to me telling me that I should not do that. Our plans are already ruined and there is no reason for us to take the risk of being rejected and lower our morale even more.

I saw a Chinese girl sitting on the seat just next to the rear exit of the bus. I knew that it is my duty to talk with everyone and share the gospel. Even though Satan tempted me not to, I decided to go talk to her. Just when I was about to talk to her, to my surprise, she waved at me. She introduced herself in Mandarin that she is a member from the Bayview Ward. She just happened to be on that bus that day. It was not a usual route that she takes and she was surprised to see Elders on the bus. I told her that we were going to teach some investigators and invited her to join us. She ended up teaching three lessons with us that day and her testimony really brought the Spirit unto our investigators' hearts.

I am very grateful for Heavenly Father's arrangement and I know that he listens. I recognized it. I know that it was a test. If I didn't have the discipline to push myself to be obedient, we would not have had such Spiritual power in our lessons. I am grateful that I passed this test.

How many tests have we failed and failed to recognize because of our weaknesses and unworthiness? May we all be humble and allow the Spirit of the Lord to work through us unhindered.
Love,
